Molike Maxhuni is a well-known actress for film and theater. She was born and raised in
Kosovo where she graduated from the Academy of Arts in Prishtina 2014. Her career
has taken roles in various films starting from Hive, directed by Blerta Basholli,
premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival on January 31, 2021 and became the first
film in Sundance history to win all three main awards – the Grand Jury Prize, the
Audience Award and the Directing Award – in the World Cinema Dramatic
Competition. It was selected as the Kosovan entry for the Best International Feature
Film at the 94th Academy Awards.
She has also appeared in films such as “Aga’s House" directed by Lendita in the
competition program of the 54th edition of the festival in Karlovy Vary 2019" which
won “Best Actress ” with her role Vala at Film Festival Cottbus - Festival of East
European Cinema 2019.
"Zana” directed by Antoneta Kastrati which was selected as the Kosovan entry for the
Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.
In "A Performance," directed by Dritero Mehmetaj, she’s not only starred as the lead
actress but was also one of the scriptwriters. This film won the Best National Film award
at Dokufest 2016.
Her roles traveled to numerous international film festival including: Sundance Film
Festival, TIFF, Karlovy Vary, San Francisco, Sarajevo Film Festival, Goteborg and
lately with the film “After war” directed by Birgitte Staermose, world premiere at 2024
Berlinale Film Festival.
Also she is been a resident actress at the Dodona Theatre in Prishtina from 2021 which
she equally performing on stage for various roles plays in collaboration with many
theatres and directors national and international ,including Dino Mustafic, Clement
Petersnjako, Blerta Neziraj, Melihate Qena, Agon Myftari, Florent Mehmeti etc.
She traveled also in many international theatres festival.
Moreover, she has national and international awards for film and theatre performances.
Over the years she has participated in various workshops by Lucinda Coxin, Paul Haggis,Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Asghar Farhadi, Ali Asgar etc
